CHRISTIAN FORMATION
Christian Believer: Connecting what we believe with how we live
Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Have you ever wondered why we sing a particular hymn or recite a certain creed? Have you asked what the Christian faith says about things like who God is and how we know God, what good is the Church, why the innocent suffer, how we can be healed, or where we go when we die? Discover the church’s answer to questions that grow out of human life and Christian experience as you study church history and teachings in this in-depth look at what the Church believes. Christian Believer recognizes that “faith seeking understanding” is a part of Christian experience and, through readings and group discussions, aims at connecting believing and living, the head as well as the heart. This course emphasizes the relationship of worship, belief, and daily life and seeks to provide a solid theological education for ministry. The class begins on Saturday, April 26, meeting twice a month. If this course sounds like something you’d be interested in, please contact The Rev. Terry Miller at tmiller@christchurchcranbrook.org or 248.644.5210, ext. 30.

Sundays, April 6 May 25, 11:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m.
This seven-part series explores the vast tradition of Christian art, as embodying the Church’s efforts to give image to the Christian story. Led by The Rev. Terry Miller, this series invites participants to engage in “a discipleship of the imagination,” as we pair the written word with visual art to help understand the great drama of salvation more intimately. We will examine mosaics, icons, paintings, film, sculpture and other arts that have been put to use to give image to the Christian faith. Meets in Rooms 201-202.
Souper Wednesday course focuses on the Holy Spirit
Wednesdays, May 14 - 28, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
This class gives due attention to the many ways of the Spirit’s life and activity salvation and healing, making Christ present in our lives and in the Church, empowering our prayers and worship, inspiration and gifting, transformation of the way we live, redemption of the world, the ultimate coming of God’s kingdom, and the unity of our relationships with each other and God. As we come to recognize the Spirit’s activity in our individual and common lives, participants may be better attuned to the leading of the Spirit into the future of faith and our life in God. Donations are still being accepted for our June Habitat for Humanity project. We continue to be well under our target of $10,000. Please make checks payable to Christ Church Cranbrook with “Habitat for Humanity” in the memo line and direct them to Mark Mals, Director of Program and Youth Ministries. There are also a few volunteer slots open for the upcoming build June 13-28. Contact Mark at mmals@christchurchcranbrook.org or 248.644.5210, ext. 28, for more information.
East Window Restoration Project
The Artworks Committee of Christ Church Cranbrook is receiving donations for the restoration of the East Window - a major focal point for every worship service and ceremony in the main church. The window is divided into 12 medallions showing scenes from the life of Christ. In our continued efforts to preserve the historic beauty of Christ Church Cranbrook, the East Window is the last project in a series of stained glass restorations begun in 1993. Restoration entails removal of the window for complete cleaning, repair and rebuilding. Extensive scaffolding will be erected both inside the church and out to permit removal of the exterior lighting framework, the old, yellowed plastic cover and finally the glass itself.
Please help us preserve this beautiful window for the next 75 to 100 years. Make checks payable to Christ Church Cranbrook (Memo Line: East Window Restoration) and mail them to Christ Church Cranbrook, 407 Church Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304.
